Canonical Visitation in the Asia (Stella Maris) Region
Restructuring for Renewal and Mission

After concluding the Canonical Visitation in the Centroamérica Region (Guatemala–El Salvador) in the last quarter of the year 2025, the visitation team led by Superior General M. Melissa Garza continued its mission in the Asia (Stella Maris) Region, composed of the India, Macau, and Philippine Units.
The scheduled visitation had as its main focus the restructuring process currently being implemented throughout the congregation, following the mandate of the 13th General Chapter. This provided the framework for dialogue, discernment, and renewal during the assemblies and visits.
The team from Generalte in Mexico arrived on December 29, 2025, to prepare for the Elective and Evaluation Assembly held on January 2–5, 2026, at Hidden Pines Suites, Barangay Palumlum, Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines. Two additional sisters joined the visitation team on January 7, 2026, further strengthening the presence and participation of the General Council in the Region.
During this assembly, the following sisters were elected to serve as the new Regional Council: Sr. Annie Estraza – Regional Superior, Sr. Bella Sarsoza – Vicar and Head of the Philippine Unit, Sr. Nileta Rudillas – Councilor and Head of the Macau Unit,
Sr. Jesintha Louie – Councilor and Head of the India Unit, Sr. Merlie Decena – Councilor and Regional Treasurer. The congregation expressed deep gratitude to the outgoing council members—Sr. Alejandra Valdez, Sr. Maria Victoria Flores, Sr. Myrna Salas, Sr. Roshalia Soreng, and Sr. Jovelyn Mantilla—for their dedicated service and commitment to the Region.
Following the assembly, the canonical visitation team proceeded to visit the communities in India Unit, then the Macau Unit, and later the communities in the Philippines, including the mission in Thailand. These visits provided opportunities for dialogue, evaluation, and encouragement, strengthening the bonds of unity and mission across the Region.
The visitation concluded with the Regional Assembly on August 7–8, 2026, held at Malyn’s Purple Place, Mataas na Kahoy, Lipa City, Batangas. The assembly closed with the signing of the Actas (minutes of the meeting) and a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Raymond Urizza, CSsR, Vice Provincial of the Redemptorists–Manila. During the Mass, the newly elected council members were formally installed, and the sisters shared a simple fellowship that further deepened their sisterhood and communal spirit.
The Canonical Visitation in the Asia Region was marked by renewal, gratitude, and hope. With new leadership, and in fidelity to the restructuring process mandated by the 13th General Chapter, the Missionaries of Our Lady of Perpetual Help continue to entrust their journey to Christ the Redeemer and the maternal care of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, confident in God’s providence for the mission ahead.
